Ok schweet heart, it works like this ...
There's
five basic personality groups. To keep it simple, we'll link these to
shapes, once you understand this you can forget the shapes. When you
start to recognise these personality types, you'll understand a little
more about why people think as they think, hence, why they do as they
do - this technique was founded as a commercial management tool, but
it's so useful in your private & family life. Dealing with all people
is important, & failing to do it well, affects you whole life, so
learn it well. You'll soon see how to apply this simple thought in many
social situations. OK, we begin.

The Groups:
A Square (not as in "You're a Square!" ) is somebody who feels most comfortable with a stable environment and clear directions on what to do. They're likely to be conservative and like things that are regular and orderly. If given a task they'll work at it until it is finished, even if it is repetitious, cumbersome and lonely.
A Rectangle also likes structure and regularity. But will establish it with organisation, meetings, committees and so forth. This'll have to be done the proper way, taking all rules and regulations into consideration. If given a task they'll start organising it to be sure it can be done the most systematic way.
A Triangle is goal oriented. They enjoy planning something out and then doing it. They're motivated by the accomplishment. They'll tend to look at big long-term issues, but might forget the details. When given a task they set goals and work on a plan for it.
A Circle is social and communicative. No hard edges. Handling things by talking about them and smoothing things out with everybody. Communication is the first priority, and making sure there's harmony. When given a task they'll talk about it.
A Squiggle is off-the-wall and creative. Feeling best doing new and different things most of the time. They get bored with regularity. When given a task they'll come up with bright ideas about it.
We're sure you've met personalities like these.
These five personality types break into sub-groups, (as per your second choice of shape) It's the second choice that gives a more composite picture. The qualities give a blend & balance to the first. They can be interchangeable. Those employment tests we mentioned use these groups to establish miscreants like Omax web site browsers as suitable job applicants, so the bias for this test is in the workplace mind-set, but you got this far, we reckon you'll make the leap to how you're able apply it to you own circumstances. As we said, it's not just for the workplace.

The Sub-Groups:
The Square, Rectangle and Triangle types are all Convergent. They're working towards something specific and finite, and they do it in a logical and systematic way. But they might be lacking in personal creativity.
The Circle and Squiggle are Divergent. They're creative, extroverted, and intuitive. They'll reach out around them into new areas and to other people. But they aren't particularly systematic or dependable.
This kind of categorisation is very useful for finding out how well people will get on or work together, or for evaluating people for job positions.
